Invisalign Dentist

An Invisalign dentist is a dental expert who facilitates Invisalign treatment for patients. Invisalign treatment consists of a series of aligners worn over your teeth. Each aligner is custom-made for the teeth and designed to push the teeth into proper alignment gently.

Anyone who wishes to straighten their teeth may be a candidate for Invisalign. This includes teens and adults. The process is designed for patients with misaligned teeth or gaps between their teeth. The treatment can also work for patients with an overbite or an underbite.

Advantages of Invisalign

One reason why Invisalign has become so popular is because of its advantages over traditional braces. And these advantages are precisely what attract so many patients.

Invisalign aligners are smooth and comfortable. This means that patients don’t experience the usual discomfort that comes with traditional braces. And because they don’t irritate the mouth, Invisalign aligners make brushing and flossing easier.

The aligners are removable. So patients don’t have to worry about dietary restrictions. The aligners are also discreet, making them unnoticeable.

Dental Procedure Performed by an Invisalign Dentist

Invisalign aligners are custom-designed to fit snugly over your teeth. To facilitate this, the dentist takes the impression of the teeth and the dental measurements, which are sent to the dental labs for fabrication. The lab then custom-makes the series of aligners, with each new set fabricated to slowly shift your teeth into place.

The initial Invisalign treatment phase lasts between six and nine months. The patient will wear their assigned aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day for about two weeks, and then shift to the next aligners in the series. This is the time it takes for teeth to move according to the amount of movement required.

Aftercare for Patients

Soaking your aligners

If your teeth are prone to tartar buildup, you may want to soak your aligners in a cleaning solution. However, Invisalign recommends against using any alcohol-based cleaners or solutions such as mouthwash. These can dry out your aligners.

Cleaning your aligners

To clean the Invisalign trays, remove them from your mouth and wash it with lukewarm water. You may also use a gentle soap, but avoid using toothpaste because it can damage the aligner.
